Custom Valve Pack for Subsea Pipeline Repair
A custom, near leak-free valve pack capable of handling both water and pressurized air to maintain dry habitats for deepwater subsea pipeline repairs.
Category: Case studies
Overview
Innova partnered with a customer to deliver a custom valve pack for a remotely operated subsea repair tool, designed for deepwater habitat operations at depths of up to 1000 meters.
Challenge
The main challenge was achieving near leak-free performance while handling both water and pressurized air in the same system. This was critical for creating and maintaining a dry habitat, placing strict demands on sealing integrity, reliability, and system robustness.
Solution
Innova developed a tailored solution based on its proven PIO36 platform, featuring:
- Precise control via Ethernet using Modbus TCP
- Seamless integration with the operator’s system
- Support for external sensors enabling real-time monitoring and safe operation
The system was engineered to perform consistently across varying pressures and fluid conditions.
Result
A compact and highly reliable valve system that maintains habitat integrity, reduces leakage risk, and enables safe, efficient subsea pipeline repair in demanding environments.
Key Facts
- Environment: Subsea / Deepwater (up to 1000 m)
- System Type: Custom valve pack (PIO36-based)
- Control Interface: Modbus TCP / Ethernet
