Subsea excavator control system

Innova was approached by Scanmudring, a company then working with inshore trenching and excavating at low depths, to modify an excavator for deep water use.
By removing the motor and control system, and replacing this with a subsea hydraulic power unit and advanced electro-hydraulic subsea control system, the standard constuction excavator was converted into a full ROV system. Control system features include:

  • Remote control and monitoring of the excavator’s hydraulic functions
  • Subsea camera and light control
  • Sensor interfacing and instrumentation

The control system provides a simple and cost efficient way of operating the excavator unit for deep sea applications, and has been successfully deployed on depths down to 1000 meters.
